Art on Display 1949-69: Albini, Bo Bardi, Scarpa, Smithsons, Van Eyck5 FEBRUARY 2019
On Friday 8 November 2019, the exhibition Art on Display 1949-69 will open at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon. This exhibition is the result of a partnership between Het Nieuwe Instituut/Jaap Bakema Study Centre and the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum. It will be on show in Lisbon until March 2020, after which it will get a follow-up at Het Nieuwe Instituut.
‘Closer to Architecture’. Masterplan for the disbursement of 11 million euros20 AUGUST 2018
On 17 July, Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven of the Department of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) issued a disbursement letter based on the 'Closer to Architecture’ masterplan officially allocating the first half of the 11 million euros awarded in March for the restoration, conservation and digitisation of Het Nieuwe Instituut’s collection.

Het Nieuwe Instituut announces an open call for three research fellows to work in residence from September 2018 to February 2019. For the Call for Fellows 2018, the Research Department has selected the theme of BURN-OUT, and has invited 2017 fellow Ramon Amaro to be the guest curator of the Call.

On 31 March 2018 Het Nieuwe Instituut presents Automated Landscapes as part of the Conversations series of Art Basel in Hong Kong. Assignment First Round Prix de Rome Architecture 201823 JANUARY 2018
The new round of the Prix de Rome Architecture just started. The first round - Low Pressure - is an open competition that addresses a specific rural area in the province of Groningen. The shortlist will be announced mid April 2018. From the end of September / beginning of October the results will be exhibited at Het Nieuwe Instituut.
Loans to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam: designs for Nagele4 APRIL 2017
From 5 April 2017 the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is exhibiting various designs for the village of Nagele (1946-64), a village in the Noordoostpolder, from the collection of Het Nieuwe Instituut. Although designed to house only a few thousand agricultural workers, Nagele is a classic example of post-war modernist architecture and town planning: with extensive green areas; row housing; separation of living, working, leisure and traffic; and a contemporary shopping centre.
