To celebrate the hundredth anniversary of De Stijl, Het Nieuwe Instituut has formed partnerships with several other cultural institutions, including a co-production with the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague. The State Archive for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning is lending hundreds of works to various exhibitions being staged to mark the centenary of De Stijl.

In light of the recent events in the US and the responses the immigration ban has triggered all over the world, we invite the design community to join Het Nieuwe Instituut’s ongoing programme of activities around migration and the role of architects and designers as relevant figures in the current socio-political context.
Cataloguing of the Pi de Bruijn archive begun1 FEBRUARY 2017
In the summer of 2016 Het Nieuwe Instituut began cataloguing the extensive archive of Pi de Bruijn (*1942). Among De Bruijn’s best-known projects are the expansion of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (1984-1988), the new building for the Dutch House of Representatives (1981-1992), and the rebuilding of the Roombeek neighbourhood (2002-08) following the Enschede Fireworks Disaster. His work as a supervisor is an example of the changing role of the architect and urban planner.

Het Nieuwe Instituut and the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology are very happy to announce the renewal of their collaboration through the Jaap Bakema Study Centre for the period 2017-2020.
190.000 visitors for BLUE: Architecture of UN Peacekeeping Missions1 DECEMBER 2016
On 27 November, the architecture biennale in Venice ended. Over 190.000 visitors attended BLUE and the presentation was positively reviewed in the international press.

On Saturday 22 October the winners of the New Material Award 2016 were announced. The winners are Olivier van Herpt - New Material Award 2016 - and Diana Scherer - New Material Fellow.
Adriana Strating new director of Business & Development19 JULY 2016
Adriana Strating will take up the post of Director of Business & Development from 1 September. In this position, she will ensure Het Nieuwe Instituut’s financial future and contribute to the quality of internal decision-making, assessment and monitoring processes. Judith van Kranendonk will take up the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees on 1 October. Under her chairmanship, a new Board of Trustees will be formed.
