Exhibition Programme

For Het Nieuwe Instituut, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro provide a springboard for a programme devoted to the human body. It explores not only the bodies of individual athletes but also the collective body of the crowds of people who will be monitored, analysed and manipulated by advanced technologies. 24 hours per day. Technological innovations have created a situation in which the body of the citizen and that of the state, the city and the public realm can be more efficiently moulded into an ideal shape. The body is being designed at all levels and the media plays a crucial role in recording and propagating these innovations.

The new programme comprises the following exhibitions:

Intervention by Eva Rothschild

To coincide with the opening in Het Nieuwe Instituut, Sonneveld House is unveiling an intervention by the Irish artist Eva Rothschild, which responds to the building’s status as a museum house.

The welcoming drink is supplied by Cointreau Fizz.

The exhibition programme has been made possible by the Mondriaan Fund, the Wilhelmina E. Jansen Fonds, NOC*NSF, Securitas, Random Studio and many others.

Eva Rothschild – A Gated Community has been made possible by a generous contribution from the Mondriaan Fund.
