From mid-March 2019, Josien Paulides will take up the post of director of finance and operations at Het Nieuwe Instituut. She will be responsible for the institute’s business, financial and organisational aspects. Together with Guus Beumer, general and artistic director, Paulides makes up the Board of Directors.
Judith van Kranendonk, chair of Het Nieuwe Instituut’s board of trustees is delighted at the appointment: "With her broad knowledge of and experience in the fields of cultural policy, finance and cultural participation, Paulides will make an essential contribution to the further development of Het Nieuwe Instituut. There is much to be done. In 2019, for example, the institute begins implementing Closer to Architecture, the masterplan for the restoration, conservation and digitisation of Het Nieuwe Instituut’s collection, for which the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science recently allocated eleven million euros. Paulides will also be involved in the development of the institute’s new policy plan for the period 2021-24."
In recent years, as government advisor at Cultuurmij Oost, Josien Paulides has advised municipal councils on their cultural policy. She is also financial advisor in her family firm Paulides BV and Advanced Electromagnetics. She is a councillor in the Municipality of Waalwijk. Until 2017 she worked for the Cultural Participation Fund.
Het Nieuwe Instituut
Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam serves Dutch design professionals and members of the public interested in architecture, design and digital culture. The institute manages the State Archive for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning, stimulates research, and programmes exhibitions, lectures and debates in the Netherlands and abroad.
