Finders Keepers30 AUGUST 2017
For the exhibition Finders Keepers, MacGuffin magazine has brought together more than 5000 household objects from over 40 collections in a grande parade of everyday products: from razors to jeans and from ropes to staircases. Inspired by Modest Manifesto for a Museum, in which the Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk pleads for a museum in which the story of ordinary people is central, Finders Keepers explores collectors’ stories and their relationship to a world of objects. Open from 8 September 2017 until 11 February 2018.
The Other Architect20 JULY 2017
Organized by the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), Het Nieuwe Instituut presents The Other Architect, an exhibition of architects who expanded their role in society to shape the contemporary cultural agenda without the intervention of built form. Architecture of Appropriation20 JANUARY 2017
What if the right to affordable housing, working and living rather than property rights were made the priority of urban transformation? Since the 1960s squatters, with this idea in mind, have made an important contribution to the development of the city, appropriating parts of the city and changing it from the inside out. This practice is explored in the exhibition Architecture of Appropriation, on show from 27 January until 25 June 2017.
