Sonneveld House Interventions

Sonneveld House

Sonneveld House (1933) is one of the best-preserved houses in the Dutch Functionalist style. Artist and architect Santiago Borja created an observatory on the roof of the museum house: A Mental Image – Blavatsky Observatory

Artist Santiago Borja creates an observatory on the roof of Sonneveld House. A Mental Image – Blavatsky Observatory is based on Borja’s research into the influence of Western esotericism on the principles of Dutch Functionalism.

Contemporary interventions

The Sonneveld House, built in 1933 in Rotterdam, is one of the best-preserved houses of the Nieuwe Bouwen style. The renowned Rotterdam designer Richard Hutten was invited by Het Nieuwe Instituut to respond to the design of this house museum.
